ABOUT

Through the Erath Engaged initiative, Tarleton State University's Rural Communication Institute provides community engagement activities (e.g., open forums, focus groups, and key informant interviews) for the greater Erath County community.

 

These activities provide qualitative information that can be used by the community to attempt to mitigate the impact of potential pandemics/disasters. We are partnered with Texas A&M Agrilife Extension, the Tarleton Counseling Center, the Tarleton Public Health Department and the Alzheimer's Association.

We aim to serve the community with the following initiatives

• Vaccine Education & Administration

• Food Insecurity Education & Cooking Demonstrations

• Mental Health Counseling

• Substance Use/Abuse Education

• Website Creation for Health and Wellness (centralize all the services)

• Creation of School-wide Campaigns (#StudentHealthFirst)

• National Public Health-Themed Activities

• Training on Disaster Preparedness for Rural University Settings & Beyond

• Conferences with Workshops

• Training Module Creation Focused on Physical and Mental Well-being
